Your Daily SkinOwl Inspiration for Wednesday, December 5th, 2012 :)
Good Morning!
It's the first post of the morning and time for your Daily SkinOwl Inspiration for Wednesday, December 5th, 2012!
Here. We Go.
I remember, a few years ago, someone asking me the following:
"Think of the kindest person you know. Now think of the happiest. Is it the same person?"
I think about this question often and to this day, it still drives me forward. Happiness doesn't need any airs, any grand entrances, or over compensations. Being happy is so often the fulfilled relationship we have with our outside world. Very few things make us as happy as being kind. And of course being happier makes us kinder in turn. It’s a self-reinforcing cycle that we all want to be a part of.
Research actually suggests that being kind in consistent, and not always convenient, ways may make us happiest of all. The "not always convenient" part is key. Are you kinder when you're having a good day vs. a bad day? Are you more inclined to say "screw it" and let a good deed or random act of kindness go by the wayside because no one's looking and, therefore, no one will notice if you don't?
As we continue into the season of love and kindness, let's all take the time and make the time for others in our hearts. When we are kind, the world responds similarly. When we aren't, that's when we tend to lose faith in the people around us. Probably because people lost faith in us. It's all connected.
With love,
